Racing Brave, Dreaming Big

I couldn’t have asked for a better Selection Races. The day had pretty much everything I had hoped for – from beautiful weather and promising performances across many categories to the chance to connect with so many passionate people. If there’s one thing that unites us all, it’s our love for this sport.

What I enjoyed most this weekend wasn’t just the level of performance, but the athletes’ attitude – racing multiple events, supporting one another, pushing each other to the finish line, and truly believing they could win. That mindset is what sets the tone for everything we want to achieve.

It was also incredible to witness some of the world’s best Paracanoe paddlers in action at our selection races, alongside other promising para paddlers showcasing their aspirations.

So, I’d like to congratulate everyone for their efforts, athletes, coaches, and staff alike. This weekend was a great step forward towards our goals.

For the World Class Programmes, our top priority remains the World Championships, followed closely by the European Championships. That said, I believe some athletes are already in a position to deliver encouraging performances – without the pressure of chasing specific targets. The World Cups will be an opportunity to race with courage, race different events, gain valuable experience, and gather insight. It’s a chance to race with the same fearless attitude we saw this weekend – and to truly believe in what we’re capable of.

Let’s harness this momentum, keep learning, and continue building – together.
