Although coaches are always surrounded by their athletes and may have good communication with them, there are challenges they must face alone to protect their athletes.
Coaches do not exist in isolation. They have lives and personal commitments, which they often put aside in favour of their athletes. They have their own personal struggles, which they often endure alone.
When things go well, your coach shares your joy. When things go wrong, they suffer with you.
When you see your coach today, I encourage you to thank them for the effort they put in for you every day – month after month, year after year.
And if expressing gratitude feels uncomfortable, at least try to maintain a positive attitude towards them and make their job a little easier today.
